Tartan Special

Length: 5 Days
Code: SG1

This holiday is based on five rounds of golf at the best there is to offer! To make it even more enjoyable and relaxing, you will be based at the Balbirnie House Hotel in Fife - a 5-star listed Georgian country house with many awards for excellence. With only 30 rooms, it is listed as one of the smallest luxury hotels of the world. The price includes, 5 nights dinner, bed and breakfast at Balbirnie House Hotel, 5 rounds of golf, ground transport throughout. Transport is based on a large self-drive hire car, for four people maximum. If larger numbers, a luxury van/coach will be used, and group discounts may apply. Those successful in the ballot for the Old Course will have to pay a supplement on the day of play.

Day 1:
We arrive in the morning at Edinburgh or Glasgow airport and transfer to the Balbirnie House Hotel followed by a round of golf at the Balbirnie Golf Club.

Day 2:
After breakfast, we transfer to Kingsbarns Golf Club (approx. 45 Minutes). As the most highly regarded "new" links course in Scotland, this course has recently been reopened after 50 years' of closure. On the return journey to Balbirnie, we make a short stop in St.Andrews - just to sample the atmosphere.

Day 3:
We depart to Carnoustie (approx 1 hour) - the home of the 1999 and 2007 British Open where many complained about the width of the fairways and the infamous Frenchman who got stuck in the Barry Burn. If the wind blows, be careful!

Day 4:
Another one hour drive north brings us to Gleneagles, with three championship courses to chose from; the Kings, the Queens and PGA Centenary Course. Please notify us when booking on which of these famous courses you would like to play on and we will do our best to book it.

Day 5:
To end this tour, we take you to St.Andrews, the home of golf and the 2005 Open. We walk the hallowed turf and enjoy the atmosphere. We will attempt to get a tee time on the Old Course through the daily ballot (this is a public course) but if unsuccessful we will play The Jubilee Course, which adjoins The Old, which is used for many championships and is a stern test of links golf.

Day 6:
Depart Balbirnie House Hotel.
